NATURALLY FORTIFIED’S RAW PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
Who says a smoothie has to be full of high sugar fruit? Coach Chip and Dr. Keith created this smoothie for the gym! Very low in sugar and added some complex carbs (oatmeal) to keep you full for a meal replacement too!
It is a perfect pre AND post workout smoothie that is raw, vegan and unprocessed! This recipe is meant for a Vitamix sized blender, so adjust accordingly if you are using a one-cup Nutribullet type high speed blender!
Almonds 1/4 cup = 14 gm of protein, 105% of vitamin E and low in saturated fat
Oatmeal 1/4 cup = 2 gm of protein, high in fiber, complex carb
Chia seeds 2 tbs = 4 gm protein, calcium, omega 3’s and is a complete protein
Hemp hearts 2 tbs = 8 gm protein, iron, calcium, Vitamins E, D, C and B’s
Whole Banana= 1.5 gm of protein, potassium, phosphorous and magnesium
Cocoa powder 1tbs= 5 gm of protein, iron, magnesium, phosphorous
Spinach 1cup= 5 gm of protein and vitamins A, C, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium
NEARLY 40 gm of protein total and it’s raw, vegan and unprocessed!!!
We like to mill the oatmeal and chia into a powder and I keep a big jar of this “flour” in the fridge, adding one cup of it to the smoothie.
The liquid here is distilled or filtered water.
A healthy amount is a 16 oz glass so if there is extra, save for a quick snack or a desert treat!
The oatmeal serves as your complex carbs to keep you energized as a pre workout and the high protein serves as a great source for recovery. So drink half before, and half after or throughout work out.
